Burn animated word-by-word Tamil captions into your video, or caption an English video in Tamil. Your footage never leaves your device. Free to use: no mark on your first two videos, then a small mark, or $49 once for none.
Caption a video in Tamil, freeLive preview in தமிழ், rendered on this page by the same engine that burns your video.
Tamil speech can be written two ways, and Burncaps asks you once which you want. Our speech service (Microsoft's MAI-Transcribe, run in the EU) writes it best and names the language by itself: on public Tamil test recordings (Google FLEURS) it got about 69 in 100 words and 86 in 100 letters right before any correction, in Tamil script, in about half a second a clip. Only the sound goes to it, never the picture, and nothing is kept. Or everything stays on your device: a speech model made for Tamil (AI4Bharat's IndicConformer, open source, 138 MB once) got about 72 in 100 words and 89 in 100 letters right on the same kind of recordings. Tamil words are long, one word often carrying what English says in three, so a single wrong letter costs a whole word: the letters are the fairer measure. Every word is click-to-edit before you export.
Tamil words are drawn in Noto Sans Tamil, an open-source face made for Tamil script and served from Burncaps itself, at the weight of the style you choose.
Speak English and choose Tamil under Captions in: every line is translated and laid over the same moments, so the captions keep their word-by-word rhythm. The reverse works too, Tamil speech captioned in English.
Tamil creators in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Singapore and the diaspora, and anyone who wants the same video to reach Tamil viewers. Search for "tamil caption generator" and most results upload your video to a server and charge by the month; Burncaps does the work on your own device, so the free videos are not bait: after them you can keep going free with a small burncaps.app mark, or pay $49, once, for none.

Yes, in Tamil script. When Burncaps hears an Indian language it offers our speech service, which names the language itself and got about 69 in 100 Tamil words right in our test (only the sound is sent, never the picture, and nothing is kept), or a speech model made for Tamil that runs on your own device (138 MB once, about 72 in 100). Every word is click-to-edit before you export.
Yes. Choose Tamil under Captions in and the lines are translated, keeping the word-by-word timing of the original. The translation sends the transcript text, never the video, and you can switch it off with Keep everything on this device.

Not on your first two: they are free with every feature and no mark of ours. After that you can keep going free, and each video carries a small burncaps.app mark in the top corner; Pro, $49 once, gives unlimited videos with no mark, never a subscription.
No. The video never leaves your device. On a computer the speech model runs in your browser. On a phone, for a language other than English, or when you ask for a closer transcript, you can choose our speech service instead: then the sound goes to it in short pieces, never the picture, and nothing is kept. The transcript text leaves only for the 30 or 60 second cut, the name check or a translation, and a tick box keeps everything on your device.
