Clipchamp. Free exports up to 1080p with no watermark and free auto captions, for anyone with a Microsoft account. Canva is the same answer if you already design there and stick to free elements.
OpusClip or Submagic, on a subscription. They are built to find a dozen clips in a long podcast. Burncaps takes one recording of up to ten minutes and either captions all of it or cuts its best 30 or 60 seconds.
Burncaps: 20 animated word-by-word styles, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, captions translated into 37 languages, and the video never leaves your browser. Free to use: no mark on your first two videos, then a small credit, or $49 once to remove it.
As read on the vendors' own pages on 28 September 2026: Clipchamp exports free without a watermark at up to 1080p with free auto captions (a Microsoft account is needed). Canva's auto captions are free and only premium elements carry a watermark. Captions.ai's free plan has no watermark but only one caption template. BurnSub is free with no watermark and no sign-up. Burncaps is free with every feature: no watermark on the first two videos, then a small burncaps.app credit, which a one-off $49 Pro removes.
BurnSub and Burncaps both run in the browser, so the video stays on your device. Burncaps sends the sound only if you choose its speech service, and the transcript text only for its optional AI pick, name check or translation. CaptionX keeps the video on your device but sends the sound to its server. Clipchamp sends the sound to Microsoft's speech service. The other tools in this comparison upload your video to their servers.
Yes. Burncaps Pro is $49 once for unlimited videos with no mark, and CaptionX sells a $399 one-time Lifetime plan. Every other paid plan in this comparison is a monthly or yearly subscription.
CapCut's own pages disagree. Its caption tool page calls the feature free to use, while a help page dated 3 April 2026 says auto captions include Pro-only functionality and its Standard versus Pro page lists the auto caption generator as exclusive to Pro. CapCut shows Pro prices only after you sign in, and they vary by region.
Clipchamp, Canva (with free elements), Captions.ai (with its one free template) and BurnSub cost nothing and add no watermark. Among paid plans, Captions.ai Basic is $9.99 a month, CaptionX is $13.95 a month and OpusClip Starter is $15 a month. Burncaps is $49 once, which costs less than any subscription here within five months.
What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or cuts it to its best 30 or 60 seconds.
Price: free with every feature, for as many videos as you like. The first two carry no mark; after that each carries a small burncaps.app credit, which Pro removes for $49 once. Pro is not a subscription.
Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound leaves only if you choose our speech service.
Files: MP4 or MOV up to ten minutes in; an MP4 with the captions burned in out. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit.
Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 37 languages, 20 caption styles.
