What you get in French

Heard as French, written as French

The model that runs in your browser handles French well enough to work from: names and slang are the usual misses. For the closest transcript Burncaps offers our speech service (Microsoft's MAI-Transcribe, run in the EU), which got about 93 in 100 words right on public French test recordings (Google FLEURS); only the sound goes to it, never the picture, and nothing is kept. Every word is click-to-edit before you export.

Latin letters with accents, drawn properly

Every one of the twenty caption styles covers Latin letters with accents, including the keyword highlight and the heavy outlined look short-form creators use.

French captions on an English video

Speak English and choose French under Captions in: every line is translated and laid over the same moments, so the captions keep their word-by-word rhythm. The reverse works too, French speech captioned in English.

Who this is for

French-speaking creators in France, Canada and Africa, and anyone who wants the same video to reach French viewers. Search for "générateur de sous-titres automatique" and most results upload your video to a server and charge by the month; Burncaps does the work on your own device, so the free videos are not bait: after them you can keep going free with a small burncaps.app mark, or pay $49, once, for none.

Questions, answered plainly

Does it write real French?

Yes. The speech model listens first, names the language it hears above your script, and writes French in Latin letters with accents. Every word is click-to-edit before you export.

Can I get French captions on an English video?

Yes. Choose French under Captions in and the lines are translated, keeping the word-by-word timing of the original. The translation sends the transcript text, never the video, and you can switch it off with Keep everything on this device.

Are the French captions drawn in a proper font?

Yes. All twenty caption styles cover Latin letters with accents, and the fonts are part of the page, not fetched from a third party.

Is there a watermark on the free videos?

Not on your first two: they are free with every feature and no mark of ours. After that you can keep going free, and each video carries a small burncaps.app mark in the top corner; Pro, $49 once, gives unlimited videos with no mark, never a subscription.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. The video never leaves your device. On a computer the speech model runs in your browser. On a phone, for a language other than English, or when you ask for a closer transcript, you can choose our speech service instead: then the sound goes to it in short pieces, never the picture, and nothing is kept. The transcript text leaves only for the 30 or 60 second cut, the name check or a translation, and a tick box keeps everything on your device.
