Turn a long video into Shorts, Reels and TikToks, without uploading it
Drop a long talking video, an interview, a talk, a lesson or a vlog, and Burncaps finds its best moments and cuts each one into a captioned 1080 x 1920 clip, ranked with a score out of 100. The video is read in place from your own disk, up to three hours on a computer, and never leaves your browser.

From one long video to ranked Shorts in three steps
1. Drop the file
MP4 or MOV, up to three hours and 10 GB on a computer, ten minutes on a phone. Use your own file, not a link: for a video already on your channel, YouTube Studio lets you download it. Burncaps listens and writes the whole script.
2. Pick from the grid
About one clip for every three minutes of talk, up to 20, best first, each with a score out of 100, Hook, Flow and Value grades and the reason it was chosen. Show only the lengths you want: Auto, 30 to 90 s; Up to 60 s; 60 s and longer; or any length.
3. Edit and export
Open a clip to change its words, its opening card or its ending, then export it, or tick several and export them all as 1080 x 1920 MP4 files.
Made to post, not to fix later
The frame follows the face
A wide 16:9 video becomes a 9:16 clip framed on whoever is talking. With two or more people in the shot, the frame cuts to whoever is speaking, or shows both side by side.
Captions word by word
Animated captions in 20 styles are burned into every clip, with an opening card. Ums, stutters and dead air are cut. Check where your captions sit against the Reels, TikTok and Shorts buttons with our free safe zone checker.
Best on videos with talk
The clip finder reads what is said, so it is built for interviews, talks, lessons, sermons, podcasts and vlogs. It is not for gameplay, music or videos with little speech.
What it costs
| Plan | Clips from a long video | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Shorts from the first ten minutes of a video, scored; two exported clips every 30 days | Free |
| Pro | Unlimited exports with no mark; Shorts from the first ten minutes of a long video, and its whole script and subtitle files | $49 once |
| Studio | Shorts from anywhere in a video up to three hours long, every video, on up to ten devices | $29 a month, cancel any time |
Why it pays for a channel that posts long videos: OpusClip Pro is $29 a month for 300 minutes of video, billed monthly in the US, the UK and Europe (opus.pro/pricing, read 24 October 2026), so two livestreams of two and a half hours use all of it. Studio costs the same and counts no minutes of video: every recording can be up to three hours, and the only hours counted are our speech service's, 20 in any 30 days, after which Burncaps listens on your own device.
How long it takes, measured: on an M1 Mac, 90 minutes of English were heard on the device in 8.8 minutes (5 October 2026); then finding the clips in a 110-minute interview took 83 seconds (23 October 2026).
What it does not do
Burncaps does not take links from YouTube or other sites, post to your accounts, add AI b-roll, or stitch one clip together from several parts of a video. It cuts clips from a video file you already have, and each clip comes from one stretch of it. If you need those things, a cloud editor is built for them and we are not.
Questions, answered plainly
How do I turn a long video into Shorts for free?
Drop the video on Burncaps in your browser. It listens, finds the best moments and cuts each into a captioned 9:16 clip, ranked with a score out of 100. Free to use: two videos every 30 days with no mark, or $49 once for unlimited videos. On the free plan it finds the clips of the first ten minutes of a long video, and each exported clip uses one of your two free videos.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
No. Burncaps works on a video file on your own device and never uploads it. For a video already on your channel, download it from YouTube Studio, then drop the file.
How long is each clip?
The clip finder returns clips of 30 seconds to two minutes of speech. The length control shows Auto, 30 to 90 s; Up to 60 s; 60 s and longer; or any length, and changing it never asks the AI again. You can shorten any clip by cutting words in its script.
How long can the original video be?
Up to three hours and 10 GB on a computer, read in place from your disk, and up to ten minutes on a phone. Free, and with Pro ($49 once), Burncaps finds the clips of the first ten minutes; Studio ($29 a month) finds them in the whole video.
Does Burncaps upload my video?
No. The picture and the export are made in your browser. The sound goes to our speech service only on a phone unless you switch it off, or on a computer if you choose it, and the transcript text goes to Claude only to find clips, check names or translate, never the video. Ticking Keep everything on this device stops that too: a simple rule on your device then picks the clips, without scores.
