AI clipping without credits or a minute meter
Most AI clip tools sell credits, and on several of them one credit is one minute of the video you put in, so an hour of webinar spends 60 credits however many clips you keep. Burncaps Captions + Clips counts no clips and no minutes: every clip of every recording, up to three hours each, for one monthly price. Free gives 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips. The only hours it counts are those of our speech service, and only if you use it.

How credit-based clip tools count
What the cheapest plan with AI clips counts on each tool, as its own pages stated it on 1 November 2026.
| Tool | What it counts | Cheapest plan with AI clips, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| OpusClip | Credits: one credit is one minute of the original video you import. Starter has 150 a month, and unused monthly credits roll over for one more month. | Starter, $15 |
| Vizard | Credits: every minute of video you upload costs one. Its pages pair Creator with 600 a month but do not show both on one plan card. | $29, if its 600 minutes come at that price |
| Quso | Credits: one is about one minute of processed video, shared by clipping, captions and editing. Lite has 100 a month. | Lite, $29 |
| Kapwing | Credits shared with subtitles and dubbing: Pro has 1,000 a month. Its long-video clip tool spends 2 credits a minute. | Pro, $24 |
| Descript | Media hours (10 a month) plus AI credits (400 a month). Its clip feature spends AI credits at a rate it does not publish. | Hobbyist, $24 |
| Submagic | Credits per video. Magic Clips, its long-video clipper, is not in Starter, Pro or Business on its pricing page today; its help pages disagree on how it is charged. | Not published |
| Klap | Clips, not minutes: 100 a month, from videos as long as 4 hours. | Basic, $29 |
| Swell AI | Minutes of transcription: 300 a month, with clips unlimited. | Studio plan, $29 |
| Riverside | Its pricing page says Magic Clips need no credits, and states no allowance for them. | Left out: its own pages showed different prices |
| Burncaps | Captions + Clips: no clips and no minutes of video. The only hours counted are our speech service's, if you use it: 20 in any 30 days. Free counts videos: 2 every 30 days, each with up to 3 clips. | Free for 2 videos every 30 days; unlimited clips: Captions + Clips, $29 a month |
Read on each vendor's own pricing and help pages on 1 November 2026, in US dollars, billed monthly; several cost less a month when paid twelve months at once, as their pages show. Riverside's own pages showed different prices, so we left its price out, and Swell AI's page shows signs of age, so its price may be out of date. If a vendor's page has changed since, it is the authority.
How Burncaps counts
Clips: not counted on Captions + Clips
With Captions + Clips, and in its 7-day trial, every clip of every recording exports, without limit. Free exports up to 3 clips from each of 2 videos every 30 days. A recording can be up to three hours and 10 GB on a computer, and Burncaps returns about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, ranked best first.
One thing counted
When our speech service writes the words, its hours count: 20 in any 30 days with Captions + Clips, 3 in the trial. A phone uses it unless you switch it off; a computer uses it only if you choose it. English on a computer is heard on your own device without a limit, and once the 20 hours are used, Burncaps listens on your device.
Safety limits, not a meter
Clip finding and translations are unlimited for your own use, with safety limits for a day and for any 30 days, set higher on Captions + Clips than on Captions. There is nothing to top up and nothing to roll over, because nothing is sold by the unit.
What 5, 10 and 20 hours of recordings a month cost
| Recordings a month | OpusClip | Kapwing | Descript | Burncaps Captions + Clips (your price) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 hours (about one hour-long webinar a week) | Pro, one pack: $29 | Pro: $24 | Hobbyist: $24 | $29 |
| 10 hours (two hour-long episodes a week) | Pro, two packs: $58 | Business: $64 | Hobbyist: $24 | $29 |
| 20 hours (five weekly hour-long shows) | Pro, four packs: $116 | Business: $64 | Creator: $35 | $29 |
Each rival figure is the cheapest plan whose allowance covers the hours, billed monthly, read 1 November 2026: OpusClip's Pro packs of 300 minutes; Kapwing's 1,000 or 4,000 credits at 2 a minute, credits that also pay for subtitles and dubbing; Descript's 10 or 30 media hours, a lower bound, as its clips also spend AI credits at an unpublished rate. Burncaps' price shows in your currency; the others are US-dollar list prices.
When a credit plan is the better buy
If you clip five hours a month or less, Kapwing's Pro and Descript's Hobbyist are smaller bills than Captions + Clips at their monthly prices, and both are full video editors in the cloud; OpusClip's Pro packs also add team seats. Captions + Clips is built for the weekly habit: the same price at 20 hours as at one.
Why a browser tool can drop the meter
A clip tool pays for two things: the computer work of opening a long video, finding faces, framing, captioning and writing the clips out, and the listening and AI that choose the moments. A tool that takes your upload does all of it on its servers, for every minute you send, so it meters minutes.
Burncaps never receives your video. Your own browser opens, frames, captions and exports it, so a three-hour recording costs us no more picture work than a ten-minute one. What still costs us money per person is our speech service and the AI that reads the transcript, so those two carry an allowance and safety limits, and the rest is one flat price.
Questions, answered plainly
Does Burncaps charge credits for AI clips?
No: Captions + Clips has no credits per clip or per minute, and the only hours it counts are those of our speech service, if you use it (20 in any 30 days with Captions + Clips). Every clip of every recording up to three hours exports, unlimited, and English on a computer is heard on your own device without a limit. Free has no credits either: 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, and the only hours counted are our speech service’s (3 in any 30 days on Free).
Do unused hours roll over, or disappear when I cancel?
Clips are not counted, so there is nothing to roll over or lose. The speech service's hours are counted over the last 30 days: hours used longer ago stop counting. If you cancel, Captions + Clips stays on to the end of the month you paid for, then your account is back on Free, and every clip you exported is a file on your own device, so it stays yours.
How much does it cost to clip 20 hours of recordings a month?
With Burncaps Captions + Clips, $29 a month, the same as for one hour. On OpusClip, whose credits are minutes of the video you import, 20 hours is four Pro packs: $116 billed monthly, as its pricing page stated on 1 November 2026.
Is Burncaps the only AI clip tool without credits?
No. Riverside's pricing page says its Magic Clips need no credits, Klap counts clips rather than minutes, and Swell AI lists unlimited clips beside a monthly allowance of transcription minutes (all read 1 November 2026). What differs with Burncaps is where the work happens: the video is never uploaded, and on a computer English can be heard on your own device (for a recording over ten minutes the page asks first), so the only hours counted are our speech service's, if you use it.
What happens when the 20 speech hours of Captions + Clips are used?
Burncaps listens on your own device instead, with nothing to buy or top up. On a 2020 MacBook with 8 GB of memory, 90 minutes of English were heard on the device in 8.8 minutes with WebGPU (5 October 2026).
Is there a free trial, and does it need a card?
Yes: 7 days of Captions + Clips, offered when you reach the free limit and started with your email only, with no card and no watermark. Every clip exports while it runs, and our speech service gives 3 hours in it. Before it, Free gives 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, and every clip of your recording is found and ranked with no sign-up. When the trial ends, your account is back on Free.

Burncaps facts, checked 1 November 2026
What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or finds the best moments of a talk, podcast or interview and gives them back as ranked, captioned 9:16 clips.
Price: free for 2 videos every 30 days, each one recording with its captioned video and up to 3 clips, no mark and no sign-up; then the free 7-day Captions + Clips trial, no card (your email only); then Captions + Clips, $29 a month, gives unlimited clips and captioned videos, or Captions, $9.98 a month or $49 once, gives unlimited captioned videos. Captions paid once is not a subscription.
Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound goes only to our speech service, on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it. Because the video never reaches us, we cannot keep it or train AI on it, and we train no AI on anything you make.
Files: MP4 or MOV in, MP4 out. Captions on the whole video: up to ten minutes. Clips: up to three hours, on a phone or a computer. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes; a longer recording, up to three hours, gives its script and those files (the first ten minutes free, all of it as one of your free videos, in the trial or with Captions + Clips or Captions) and its clips (every one found and shown before you sign up; up to 3 from each free video exported free, every one in the trial or with Captions + Clips).
Clips: about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, ranked, the ones we would post first circled, each showing the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen; each cut to 9:16 with ums and dead air removed, an opening card and captions, framed on whoever is talking. Every clip of the whole recording is found and shown, free and with no sign-up; each free video exports up to 3 of them, and the 7-day trial and Captions + Clips export every clip, unlimited.
Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 59 languages, 60 caption styles.
After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
