Where these numbers come from, checked 22 October 2026

Instagram Reels: Meta's Ads Guide for Reels says to leave at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% on each side free of text, logos and other important parts. Meta writes it for ads; ordinary Reels carry the same name, caption and buttons. Meta gives no separate width for the like, comment and share buttons down the right, so if your text sits low on the right, check it against All three.

TikTok: the In-Feed safe zone template linked from TikTok's In-Feed ads help page, drawn at 720 x 1280 and scaled here to 1080 x 1920. TikTok publishes it inside a download, so these numbers are the template as measured by two independent guides, AdCheckLab and BreakReach, which agree to the pixel. TikTok says the zone also grows with a longer caption and with add-ons such as an ad's button.

YouTube Shorts: the vertical video safe zone in Google Ads Help, given in pixels of 1080 x 1920. Google publishes it for vertical video ads; YouTube gives no separate figure for ordinary Shorts.

All three: the strictest edge of the three, with TikTok's button column, for one video posted everywhere.

The apps change their layouts and phones differ in shape, so treat these as guides, not guarantees. We read the sources again each month and change the date above when we do.

Check a video in three moves

Drop the file

A video (MP4, MOV or WebM) or a picture (PNG, JPG or WebP). It opens in this page from your device and is never sent anywhere, which you can check in your browser's network tab.

Switch apps, scrub

Pick Reels, TikTok, Shorts or All three. Move through the video and stop on every frame with text: the shaded parts are where the app draws over your picture.

Save the template

Download a transparent 1080 x 1920 PNG for the app you picked and lay it over your edit in CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Canva. Hide it before you export.

Questions, answered plainly

What is the Instagram Reels safe zone?

Meta asks you to keep at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% of each side free of text, logos and other important parts. On a 1080 x 1920 Reel that is 269 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom and 65 px each side, leaving a clear box of about 950 x 979 px.

What is the TikTok safe zone?

TikTok's In-Feed safe zone template, as measured by two independent guides and scaled to 1080 x 1920, keeps 240 px clear at the top, 660 px at the bottom and 120 px each side. From 840 px down, the like, comment, share and sound buttons take the right 300 px, so the clear box is 840 px wide above that and 660 px wide below it.

What is the YouTube Shorts safe zone?

Google's safe zone for vertical YouTube video is 288 px clear at the top, 672 px at the bottom, 48 px on the left and 192 px on the right of a 1080 x 1920 frame, a clear box of 840 x 960 px. Google publishes it for vertical video ads; ordinary Shorts carry the same buttons.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The page opens your video or picture from your own device and draws it there, and the file is never sent anywhere, which you can see in your browser's network tab. The page sends only anonymous step counts, such as that a file was shown, never anything from the file (see the privacy policy).

How do I use the safe zone template in CapCut or Premiere?

Download the PNG for your app, put it on the top track of a 1080 x 1920 project over the whole video, and keep your text and faces inside the clear box. Hide or delete that track before you export.

Why do safe zone numbers differ between websites?

The apps change their layouts, phones differ in shape, and a longer caption or an ad's button takes more room. These figures come from Meta, TikTok and Google's own pages, read on 22 October 2026. If you post one video to all three apps, use All three, the strictest of each edge.

Burncaps facts, checked 22 October 2026

What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or cuts it to its best 30 or 60 seconds.

Price: free with every feature, for two videos every 30 days with no mark; Pro, $49 once, gives unlimited videos with no mark. Pro is not a subscription.

Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound goes only to our speech service, on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it.

Files: MP4 or MOV up to ten minutes in; an MP4 with the captions burned in out. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes. A longer recording, up to 90 minutes on a computer, gives its script and those files: the first ten minutes free, all of it with Pro.

Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 37 languages, 20 caption styles.

After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
