Why Captions + Clips pays for a weekly recording: Burncaps finds about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, so an hour-long episode gives about 30 clips, a month of daily posts. The free plan keeps three of them; Captions + Clips keeps all of them, from every recording, and counts no minutes of video.

How the AI picks the clips

Whole thoughts, not random minutes

The server lists stretches of the talk that start where a thought starts and end where the speaker finished a point, read from the punctuation, the measured pauses and the fall of the voice. No clip stops mid-sentence by design.

Ranked by an AI editor

Claude, Anthropic's AI, reads the transcript text, never the video or the sound, ranks the best stretches and circles the ones it would post first. Each clip shows the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen.

Cut ready to post

Each clip is cut to 9:16 and framed on whoever is talking, with ums, stutters and dead air removed, an opening card and word-by-word captions in any of 60 styles, then exported as a 1080 x 1920 MP4.

Free AI clip finding holds about two hours of recording a day; past that, or with Keep everything on this device ticked, a simple rule on your device picks runs of whole sentences of about a minute instead, in the order they were said. In a blind test on four recordings on 1 November 2026, an AI judge preferred the Burncaps clip in 9 of 12 pairs against OpusClip's; we ran the test ourselves, and its method and its limits are set out in full.

When you need Captions + Clips

More than three clips

The free plan exports up to 3 clips from each of its two videos. When you want the fourth, or a third video in the same 30 days, Captions + Clips exports every clip of every recording, unlimited.

Try it for 7 days, no card

The Captions + Clips trial has every feature, puts no watermark on anything and needs only an email. Nothing is charged when it ends, and you keep the free plan. The trial in full.

No minute meter

Captions + Clips is $29 a month whatever you clip, each recording up to three hours. The only hours counted are our speech service's, 20 in any 30 days, after which your own device listens.

What it does not do

Burncaps does not take links from YouTube or other sites, post to your accounts, add AI b-roll, or stitch one clip together from several parts of a video. It reads what is said, so it is built for podcasts, talks, interviews, lessons and vlogs, not gameplay, music or videos with little speech. If you need those things, a cloud editor is built for them and we are not.

Questions, answered plainly

Is there a free AI clip generator with no watermark?

Yes. Burncaps is free for 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, with no watermark on anything you export and no sign-up: no account and no email. The clips are found by AI and made in your browser, and the video is never uploaded.

How many clips can I make for free?

Up to 3 clips from each of 2 videos every 30 days, each captioned and 1080 x 1920. Every clip in a recording is found and ranked for free, about one for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, so you choose the three you keep. For every clip of every recording, try Captions + Clips free for 7 days, no card; then Captions + Clips is $29 a month.

Do I need to sign up or give an email?

No. The free plan needs no account and no email: drop a video and export. An email is asked for only when you start the 7-day Captions + Clips trial, and it needs no card.

How does it choose the clips?

It lists the stretches of the talk that start where a thought starts and end where the speaker finished a point, read from the punctuation, the pauses and the fall of the voice. Claude, Anthropic's AI, reads the transcript text (never the video or the sound) and ranks the best of them, circling the ones it would post first. Free AI clip finding holds about two hours of recording a day; past that, or with Keep everything on this device ticked, a simple rule on your device picks runs of whole sentences instead.

How long can my video be?

Clips come from recordings up to three hours and 10 GB, on a phone or a computer. Captions burned into a whole video take recordings up to ten minutes and 1.2 GB. Each clip is 30 seconds to two minutes of speech.

Does Burncaps upload my video?

No. The picture and the export are made in your browser. The sound goes to our speech service only on a phone unless you switch it off, or on a computer if you choose it, and the transcript text goes to Claude only to find clips, check names or translate, never the video. Ticking Keep everything on this device stops that too.

Burncaps facts, checked 2 November 2026

What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or finds the best moments of a talk, podcast or interview and gives them back as ranked, captioned 9:16 clips.

Price: free for 2 videos every 30 days, each one recording with its captioned video and up to 3 clips, no mark and no sign-up; then the free 7-day Captions + Clips trial, no card (your email only); then Captions + Clips, $29 a month, gives unlimited clips and captioned videos, or Captions, $9.98 a month or $49 once, gives unlimited captioned videos. Captions paid once is not a subscription.

Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound goes only to our speech service, on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it. Because the video never reaches us, we cannot keep it or train AI on it, and we train no AI on anything you make.

Files: MP4 or MOV in, MP4 out. Captions on the whole video: up to ten minutes. Clips: up to three hours, on a phone or a computer. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes; a longer recording, up to three hours, gives its script and those files (the first ten minutes free, all of it in the trial or on either paid plan).

Clips: about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, ranked, the ones we would post first circled, each showing the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen; each cut to 9:16 with ums and dead air removed, an opening card and captions, framed on whoever is talking. Every clip of the whole recording is found and shown, free and with no sign-up; each free video exports up to 3 of them, and the 7-day trial and Captions + Clips export every clip, unlimited.

Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 59 languages, 60 caption styles.

After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
