A VEED alternative for captions, without the watermark

VEED's free plan exports at 720p with its watermark, and watermark-free export starts on Creator at £20 a month. Burncaps does one job: animated word-by-word captions burned into your video, made in your browser with the video never uploaded. Free to use: two videos every 30 days with no mark, or $49 once for unlimited videos.

What VEED is good at

A whole video editor

Editing, a screen and camera recorder, resizing for each social network and a stock audio and video library, in one place in the browser. If you edit whole videos, not only caption them, that breadth is the point.

AI tools around the edit

AI dubbing, AI voices and avatars, filler-word and silence removal, and, on its Pro plan, translation into more than 50 languages.

Teams and brands

Several editors on one plan (up to 5 on Studio), brand kits on Pro, and on Enterprise a review mode for videos and central management of teams and data.

Where VEED stops, if you only need captions

The watermark

VEED's plan table leaves watermark-free exports out of the free plan. VEED's watermark-free export starts on Creator: £20 a month, or £116 a year paid at once.

Minutes and quality

Free exports are up to 10 minutes long at 720p, with 10 minutes of auto subtitles a month. Creator gives unlimited auto subtitles (a fair use limit of 50 hours a month) and 1080p.

Styles and upload

Its table marks subtitle styles as Limited on Free and Creator, and unlimited from Pro at £35 a month or £206 a year. The video is uploaded to VEED to be edited: up to 1 GB a file on Free.

VEED plans read on veed.io/pricing (plan cards, the full plan table and its FAQ on subtitle limits) on 14 October 2026, signed out, from the UK, so prices showed in pounds. If VEED's page has changed since, its page is the authority.

When to keep using VEED

You edit, not only caption

Joining clips, music, b-roll, text and screen recording: VEED does the whole edit and Burncaps does not. Burncaps takes one recording and gives it back captioned, or cut to its best 30 or 60 seconds.

You need a dubbed voice or an avatar

VEED's AI dubbing, voices and avatars have no counterpart in Burncaps. Burncaps translates the caption text into 37 languages; it does not dub the voice.

A team edits the same videos

Shared editing and brand kits for several people are what VEED's paid plans are built for. Burncaps has no shared projects: each video is made in one browser.

How Burncaps does the caption job

It listens on your device

Drop an MP4 or MOV of up to ten minutes. The speech model runs in your browser, so the video never leaves your device. On a phone, or for a language other than English, you can choose our speech service instead, which gets only the sound.

You correct the words

The transcript opens as a script under the video. Click a word to fix it, and one click fixes it everywhere it was heard. Choose one to six words at a time, the position, the size and the text and highlight colours.

It burns the captions in

Pick one of 20 animated styles, where each word lights up as it is said, and export one MP4. Or ask for the best 30 or 60 seconds, cut to 9:16 and framed on your face. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes.

What it costs

Free to use: two videos every 30 days with no mark, or $49 once for unlimited videos. Pro is not a subscription, and the free videos need no account.

Questions, answered plainly

Is there a free VEED alternative without a watermark?

Burncaps is free with every feature for two videos every 30 days with no watermark, and Pro, $49 once, gives unlimited videos with none. It burns animated word-by-word captions into your video in your browser, without uploading the video and without an account.

Does VEED's free plan add a watermark?

Yes. As read on veed.io/pricing on 14 October 2026, watermark-free exports are not part of VEED's free plan; they start on Creator at £20 a month, or £116 a year. VEED's free exports are up to 10 minutes at 720p, with 10 minutes of auto subtitles a month.

Can Burncaps edit a whole video like VEED?

No. Burncaps captions one recording, or cuts it to its best 30 or 60 seconds, and can soften or replace the background. It has no timeline for joining clips, no music library and no screen recorder. For a full edit, VEED is the better tool.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video opens in your browser and never leaves your device. The sound leaves only if you choose our speech service, and then only the sound, in short pieces, never the picture. The transcript text leaves only for the optional best-moment pick, name check or translation, and ticking Keep everything on this device stops that.

What does Pro add?

Pro is a single payment of $49, not a subscription, for unlimited videos with no mark. Every video, free or Pro, gets every style and the max-accuracy model; without Pro, two videos are free every 30 days with no mark, and subtitle files are free without limit for videos up to ten minutes.

Burncaps facts, checked 14 October 2026

What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or cuts it to its best 30 or 60 seconds.

Price: free with every feature, for two videos every 30 days with no mark; Pro, $49 once, gives unlimited videos with no mark. Pro is not a subscription.

Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound leaves only if you choose our speech service.

Files: MP4 or MOV up to ten minutes in; an MP4 with the captions burned in out. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes. A longer recording, up to 90 minutes on a computer, gives its script and those files: the first ten minutes free, all of it with Pro.

Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 37 languages, 20 caption styles.

After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
