Read signed out on 28 September 2026; capcut.com/pricing returned "Not Found" that day. CapCut differs between its web, desktop and phone apps and by country, so the honest answer is that captions may be free where you are, or may ask for Pro. If CapCut's pages change, theirs are the authority.
Animated word-by-word captions burned into your video in your browser, with the video never uploaded. 20 styles, a transcript you correct with a click, and SRT, VTT and ASS files free without limit. Free to use: no mark on your first two videos, then a small credit, or $49 once to remove it.
Microsoft's editor states free exports up to 1080p with no watermark and free auto captions, for anyone with a Microsoft account. A good answer if you want a full timeline editor and do not mind signing in.
If you use its templates, effects and timeline every day and your region gives you captions free, there is little reason to move. The contradiction only matters when the Pro prompt appears on the one thing you came for.
CapCut's own pages disagree. On 28 September 2026 its caption tool page called the feature free to use, a help page dated 3 April 2026 said auto captions include Pro-only functionality, and its Standard versus Pro page, dated 23 September 2026, listed the auto caption generator as exclusive to Pro. Whether you see a Pro prompt depends on the app, the country and the features you use.
CapCut does not publish one price. Its help page says the price varies by region, device and promotions, and it shows after you sign in. capcut.com/pricing returned Not Found on 28 September 2026.
CapCut's help page says most exports carry no watermark, but template endings and Pro items add one.
