Is OpusClip free? Yes, with a watermark and a 3-day limit

OpusClip (often typed Opus Clip) has a free plan: 60 credits a month, where one credit is one minute of the video you import, a watermark on every export, and clips that can no longer be exported after 3 days. Its 7-day trial of OpusClip Pro watermarks exports too. That is what its own pages said on 1 November 2026. We make Burncaps, a rival clip tool with a free plan and no watermark, so read the rest as a competitor's page.

Read on opus.pro/pricing and three articles in OpusClip's help centre (on cancelling a free trial, payments and billing, and the features not included in the free trial, the last updated 30 October 2026) on 1 November 2026, in US dollars. If its pages have changed since, they are the authority. All its plans and what an hour of video costs on each: OpusClip pricing.

The OpusClip watermark, and the way it offers to remove it

OpusClip's pages list the watermark on the free plan and say trial exports carry it too. The way OpusClip offers to remove it is a paid plan: its pricing page lists no watermark from Starter, $15 a month. Our own test of its trial on 1 November 2026 saw an “OpusClip” mark and a “Created with” strip on the clips. Cropping or blurring a mark away is not something we would suggest: the cleaner route is a tool whose free exports carry none.

A free alternative with no watermark

Burncaps finds the best moments of a podcast, talk or interview in your browser, without uploading the video, and gives them back ranked, captioned and framed 9:16 on whoever is talking. Free: 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, no watermark and no sign-up. Then try Captions + Clips free for 7 days, no card. Captions + Clips is $29 a month for unlimited clips and captions, or Captions is $9.98 a month or $49 once, captions only.

OpusClip's column from its own pages, read 1 November 2026; its account step from our test of its trial the same day. Every clip of a recording is found and ranked on Burncaps' free plan, about one for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, and the free plan exports up to three from each video; the 7-day trial and Captions + Clips export every clip.

How the clips compared, in our blind test

On 1 November 2026 we gave OpusClip and Burncaps the same four openly licensed recordings with every setting at its default, OpusClip on its trial and Burncaps on Captions + Clips, and took each tool's own top three, 12 pairs. A separate AI judge, shown frame sheets with the watermark area blurred on both sides, the transcript and the post text, preferred the Burncaps clip in 9 of the 12 pairs and the OpusClip clip in 3.

Its limits, plainly: we made the test and we wrote this page; the judge was an AI model, not an audience; the two caption styles differ, so the judge could tell the styles apart; four recordings is a small sample; and OpusClip found many more clips in each recording that day. The full method and results.

An honest line on each

When OpusClip's free plan fits

You want to paste a YouTube link, you are happy with a watermark while you try it, and you will download your clips within 3 days. OpusClip also posts to social accounts on paid plans and gives every clip a virality score, which Burncaps does not.

When Burncaps fits

You have the recording as a file, you want clips you can post with no mark, and you would rather the video never left your computer. Clips start where a thought starts and end on a finished point, with captions and a 9:16 frame on whoever is talking.

When you clip every week

OpusClip's paid plans count minutes of video. Captions + Clips is $29 a month for every clip of every recording, each up to three hours, with no minute meter, and its 7-day trial needs no card and adds no watermark.

Questions, answered plainly

Is OpusClip free?

Yes, it has a free plan. As OpusClip's pricing page stated on 1 November 2026, the free plan gives 60 credits a month, where one credit is one minute of the video you import, puts a watermark on exports, and clips can no longer be exported after 3 days. Exports without the watermark start on Starter, $15 a month, billed monthly only.

Does OpusClip's free plan add a watermark?

Yes. OpusClip's pricing page lists a watermark on the free plan, and its help centre says videos exported during the free trial include the OpusClip watermark too (read 1 November 2026). OpusClip's own way to remove it is a paid plan.

Does the OpusClip free trial need a card?

OpusClip's trial is 7 days of OpusClip Pro, after which the account becomes Free. Its help centre says no card is needed in the countries it serves at full capacity; it does not say what applies elsewhere (read 1 November 2026).

How long can I keep clips made on OpusClip's free plan?

OpusClip's pricing page says that after 3 days, clips on the free plan can no longer be exported (read 1 November 2026). Download the ones you want within 3 days.

Is there a free OpusClip alternative with no watermark?

Burncaps, which we make: free for 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, with no watermark and no sign-up. The clips are made in your browser and the video is never uploaded; nothing expires, because the files are saved to your own device. For every clip of every recording, try Captions + Clips free for 7 days, no card; then Captions + Clips is $29 a month.

Where is OpusClip the better choice?

If you work from YouTube links, want clips posted to your social accounts for you, want a virality score on each clip or many clips from a short recording, OpusClip is built for that and Burncaps is not. Burncaps takes a file, gives files back and never uploads the video.

Burncaps facts, checked 2 November 2026

What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or finds the best moments of a talk, podcast or interview and gives them back as ranked, captioned 9:16 clips.

Price: free for 2 videos every 30 days, each one recording with its captioned video and up to 3 clips, no mark and no sign-up; then the free 7-day Captions + Clips trial, no card (your email only); then Captions + Clips, $29 a month, gives unlimited clips and captioned videos, or Captions, $9.98 a month or $49 once, gives unlimited captioned videos. Captions paid once is not a subscription.

Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound goes only to our speech service, on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it. Because the video never reaches us, we cannot keep it or train AI on it, and we train no AI on anything you make.

Files: MP4 or MOV in, MP4 out. Captions on the whole video: up to ten minutes. Clips: up to three hours, on a phone or a computer. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes; a longer recording, up to three hours, gives its script and those files (the first ten minutes free, all of it in the trial or on either paid plan).

Clips: about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, ranked, the ones we would post first circled, each showing the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen; each cut to 9:16 with ums and dead air removed, an opening card and captions, framed on whoever is talking. Every clip of the whole recording is found and shown, free and with no sign-up; each free video exports up to 3 of them, and the 7-day trial and Captions + Clips export every clip, unlimited.

Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 59 languages, 60 caption styles.

After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
