The best free AI clipping tools in 2026, compared
An AI clipping tool takes a long video, a podcast or a talk, finds the moments worth posting and cuts them into short vertical clips with captions. Almost every one has a free plan, and they differ in what you can actually export without paying: how many minutes or clips, whether there is a watermark, and whether your video is uploaded. Here are twelve, side by side, from each tool's own pages with the date we read them. We make Burncaps, so it is listed first and you should read the rest as a competitor's page.

The short answer
For clips you can post with no watermark and without signing up: Burncaps, free for 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, made in your browser so the video is never uploaded. We make it.
If your videos are on YouTube: 2short.ai and WayinVideo work from a link and add no watermark on their free plans (2short.ai 30 minutes of analysis a month, WayinVideo 100 credits once), and OpusClip gives 60 minutes a month with a watermark. All three need an account and process the video on their servers.
Klap, Choppity and Submagic let you try a video, but need a paid plan to download clean clips.

Minutes are minutes of the video you put in, as each tool counts them. Every rival line was read on that company's own pricing page or help centre with no account, on 1 November 2026 or, for 2short.ai, WayinVideo and CapCut (with OpusClip and Vizard read again), 5 November 2026, in US dollars. Left out on purpose: Riverside, whose own pages showed different prices and disagreed on its free plan; VEED, whose prices did not load without an account; the Captions app, whose help pages disagree about the free watermark. If a vendor's page says something else today, it is the authority.
Each tool, in a paragraph
1. Burncaps, which we make
Drop a recording of up to three hours and Burncaps finds every stretch worth a clip, starting where a thought starts and ending on a finished point, ranks them best first and circles the ones we would post first, each with the reason it was chosen. Each clip is cut to 9:16 on whoever is talking, with ums and dead air removed and animated word-by-word captions. With Pro and its trial, Add B-roll lays up to three stock shots from Pixabay over the moments where you name something a viewer can picture. Free: 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips, no watermark and no sign-up. Then try Pro free for 7 days, no card; Pro is $29 a month for every clip of every recording, with no minute meter. It takes a file, not a YouTube link, and it does not post to your accounts.
2. 2short.ai
Built around YouTube: paste a link and it cuts clips, for videos that have captions. Its pricing page gives the free plan 30 minutes of AI video analysis a month (and says 15 minutes further down the same page), exports in 1080p with no watermark, and every feature on every plan; ads are shown on Free. It needs an account. Read on 2short.ai/pricing, 5 November 2026.
3. WayinVideo
Its help centre says it adds no watermark on any plan and that free users see a score on every clip. The free plan is 100 credits that do not renew each month, exports at 720p and storage kept for 3 days, and works from links only: local uploads are not on Free. No card is needed. Read on wayin.ai/pricing and its help centre, 5 November 2026.
4. CapCut
A full video editor with a long video to shorts tool, which its own page says makes short videos without watermarks. CapCut's pages we read do not say how much of it the free account includes. It needs a login, no card, and the video is uploaded while it works. Read on capcut.com, 5 November 2026.
5. OpusClip
The best known AI clipping tool. Its free plan gives 60 credits a month, where one credit is one minute of the video you import, puts a watermark on exports, and clips can no longer be exported after 3 days. Its 7-day trial of the paid plan watermarks exports too. Its compare table shows no virality score and no B-roll on Free: both start on Starter, $15 a month, billed monthly only, with 150 minutes a month and no watermark. It takes YouTube links as well as files up to 10 GB. Read on opus.pro/pricing and its help centre, 1 November 2026, rechecked 5 November 2026.
6. Vizard
Counts minutes the same way: one credit for every minute of video uploaded, 60 free each month, and files of up to an hour on the free plan. Its help centre says free exports carry a Vizard watermark at 720p and are stored for 3 days. Its compare table ticks AI B-roll on Free. Its paid Creator plan is $29 a month, or $14.50 a month billed yearly, with allowances from 600 minutes. Read on vizard.ai/pricing and its help centre, 1 November 2026, rechecked 5 November 2026.
7. Quso, formerly vidyo.ai
Free: 75 credits a month, where one credit is about one minute of processed video, exports at 720p with a quso.ai watermark, and data kept for 7 days. Clipping, captions and editing all draw on the same credits. Its Lite plan is $29 a month at list price. Read on quso.ai/pricing, 1 November 2026.
8. Descript
A full editor where you cut video by editing the words of its transcript; Create Clips is one of its tools. Free: 1 media hour a month, exports at 720p with a Descript watermark, and Create Clips is listed as limited. No card is needed for the free plan. Its Hobbyist plan is $24 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly, and Create Clips spends AI credits at a rate it does not publish. Read on descript.com/pricing and its help centre, 1 November 2026.
9. Kapwing
A browser editor with many tools; its Repurpose Studio turns a video into clips at 2 credits a minute, and the free plan has 10 credits. Free exports carry a watermark, are 720p and up to 4 minutes long. There is no free trial of its paid plans; its Pro plan is $24 a month, or $16 billed yearly. Read on kapwing.com/pricing and its help centre, 1 November 2026.
10. Choppity
Its free plan analyses 1 hour of video a month and lets you look at the picks, but its pricing page shows no export or download on Free; Starter is $24 a month, or $16.80 billed yearly, for 3 hours. No card is needed to sign up. Read on choppity.com/pricing, 1 November 2026.
11. Klap
Try one video free with no card, but downloading or posting clips needs a paid plan. Basic is $29 a month, or $174 a year, for 100 clips a month from videos up to 4 hours; paid exports carry no Klap branding. Read on klap.app, 1 November 2026.
12. Submagic
Best known for animated captions on short videos. Its help centre offers 3 short videos to try, and says a download without the watermark needs a subscription; its pricing page lists paid plans from $19 a month, or $12 billed yearly, and no card is needed to start. Its help pages disagree on what long-video clips cost, so we leave that out. Read on submagic.co and its help centre, 1 November 2026.
Which one to pick
You want to post the clips today, free
Burncaps: no watermark, no account, up to 3 clips from each of 2 videos every 30 days, captioned and framed 9:16, and the video stays on your computer. For more, the 7-day Pro trial needs no card.
Your videos are already on YouTube
2short.ai and WayinVideo work from a YouTube link with no watermark on their free plans, and OpusClip takes links too. Burncaps takes the file instead: download your own video from YouTube Studio first (how, step by step).
You clip every week
Minute meters add up: see what 10 and 20 hours a month cost on each tool in AI clip generator prices compared. Pro is $29 a month for every clip of every recording, with no minute meter.
Your recordings are private
Client calls, coaching sessions, unreleased episodes: Burncaps makes the clips in your browser and never uploads the video. The cloud tools on this page take it onto their servers. Which ones may use it to train AI: 13 editors' terms, dated.
How we read these
Every rival line comes from that company's own pricing page or help centre, read with no account and no card, in US dollars: OpusClip, Vizard, Quso, Descript, Kapwing, Choppity, Klap and Submagic on 1 November 2026; 2short.ai, WayinVideo and CapCut on 5 November 2026, when OpusClip and Vizard were read again. Where a company's own pages disagree we say so (2short.ai's 30 or 15 minutes) or leave the point out (Riverside's free plan, Submagic's long-video price). We did not test every tool ourselves; our own side-by-side test was with OpusClip, on 1 November 2026 (method and results). Burncaps' lines come from its own code. Free plans change often: if a page here is out of date, write to hello@burncaps.app and we will correct it.

Questions, answered plainly
What is the best free AI clipping tool?
It depends on what free has to mean. For clips with no watermark, no sign-up and no video upload, Burncaps, which we make: 2 videos every 30 days, each with captions and up to 3 clips. For a YouTube link, 2short.ai and WayinVideo add no watermark on their free plans, with an account and a small allowance of minutes or credits, and OpusClip and Vizard give 60 minutes a month with a watermark. Each fact was read on the tool's own pages on 1 or 5 November 2026.
Which free AI clipping tool has no watermark?
Burncaps exports free clips with no watermark and without an account. 2short.ai and WayinVideo add none on their free plans either, and CapCut's long video to shorts page says it adds none; all three need an account. OpusClip, Vizard, Quso, Descript and Kapwing put a watermark on free exports, as their own pages said on 1 or 5 November 2026.
Is there a free AI clipper with no sign-up?
Burncaps needs no account and no email for its 2 free videos every 30 days. OpusClip asked for an account before the first clip in our test of 1 November 2026.
Which AI clipping tool does not upload my video?
Burncaps makes the clips in your browser, so the video is never uploaded. The sound goes to our speech service on a phone unless you switch it off, or on a computer if you choose it, and the transcript text goes to Claude to find the clips; ticking Keep everything on this device stops both. OpusClip, Vizard, WayinVideo, CapCut, Quso, Kapwing, Choppity, Klap and Submagic take the video onto their servers, and 2short.ai works from a YouTube link, as their own pages describe.
Does Burncaps find the moments most likely to do well?
Yes. It finds every stretch of the recording that works as a clip on its own, ranks them best first and circles the ones we would post first, each with the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen. Claude, Anthropic's AI, reads the transcript text to rank them, never the video or the sound.
Can an AI clipping tool add B-roll for free?
Burncaps adds B-roll with Pro and its free 7-day trial, which needs no card: press Add B-roll on a clip and it lays up to three stock shots from Pixabay over the moments where you name something a viewer can picture. The 2 free videos every 30 days do not include it.
Is OpusClip free?
Yes, it has a free plan: 60 credits a month, where one credit is one minute of the video you import, a watermark on exports, and clips that can no longer be exported after 3 days, as its pricing page stated on 1 November 2026. Exports without the watermark start on Starter, $15 a month.
Can I clip a YouTube video for free?
2short.ai and WayinVideo work from a YouTube link on their free plans, with no watermark and an account; OpusClip takes links too, with a watermark on Free. Burncaps takes a file: if the video is yours, download it from YouTube Studio first (Content, the video's menu, Download), then drop it in, and it is never uploaded.

Burncaps facts, checked 2 November 2026
What it is: a browser tool that burns animated word-by-word captions into a talking video, or finds the best moments of a talk, podcast or interview and gives them back as ranked, captioned 9:16 clips.
Price: free for 2 videos every 30 days, each one recording with its captioned video and up to 3 clips, no mark and no sign-up; then the free 7-day Pro trial, no card (your email only); then Pro, $29 a month, gives unlimited clips and captioned videos, or Starter, $9.98 a month or $49 once, gives unlimited captioned videos. Starter paid once is not a subscription.
Privacy: the video never leaves your browser. The sound goes only to our speech service, on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it. Because the video never reaches us, we cannot keep it or train AI on it, and we train no AI on anything you make.
Files: MP4 or MOV in, MP4 out. Captions on the whole video: up to ten minutes. Clips: up to three hours, on a phone or a computer. SRT, VTT, ASS and text files are free without limit for recordings up to ten minutes; a longer recording, up to three hours, gives its script and those files (the first ten minutes free, all of it in the trial or on either paid plan).
Clips: about one clip for every two minutes of talk, up to 30, ranked, the ones we would post first circled, each showing the words it opens and ends on and the reason it was chosen; each cut to 9:16 with ums and dead air removed, an opening card and captions, framed on whoever is talking. Every clip of the whole recording is found and shown, free and with no sign-up; each free video exports up to 3 of them, and the 7-day trial and Pro export every clip, unlimited.
Languages and styles: captions in the language spoken, twelve Indian languages heard on your device, translation into 59 languages, 60 caption styles.
After it listens: correct any word (one click changes it everywhere), add or cut words, one to six words at a time, position, size, text and highlight colours, and names this browser remembers, all free and without listening again.
