Where they win

Read it

Submagic and Captions ship B-roll, emojis, auto-zoom and clip finding across long podcasts. The Burncaps Starter plan does one thing: it burns animated word-by-word captions into your video, on your machine, with no limit on how many. Clips, the best moments of a talk cut into ranked, captioned 9:16 videos, are part of Pro (the free plan exports up to 3 from each of its 2 videos). If captions are all you need, Starter covers them for good with one payment, or month by month; if you want unlimited clips too, Pro does both.

Sixty styles, all included

Every thumbnail is rendered live by the engine on this page, not a mockup. Every style is included in every video, free or paid.

What Starter includes, and its limits

Every limit in plain words, so you can decide before you pay.

How many videos can I make with Starter?

As many captioned videos as you like. There is no daily, monthly or lifetime limit on captioned videos or their exports, and none on subtitle files (SRT, VTT, ASS and text), which are free for everyone for recordings up to ten minutes; with Starter they cover the whole of a recording up to three hours. No video carries a mark. Starter is for captioned videos only: clips are part of Pro, which you can try free for seven days, no card. On Free, each of your 2 videos every 30 days exports up to 3 clips.

How long and how big can a video be?

Captions burned into the whole video: up to ten minutes and 1.2 GB per file, on a computer or a phone. Every plan and the trial are the same here. The file is read a few megabytes at a time while the new video is written, and the new video is kept by your browser until you save it, so a longer recording is more than many devices can write at once. A computer writes the whole video at its own resolution. We have not measured a ten-minute 4K export, so we do not promise one: try a 4K clip of yours as a free video first. A longer recording, up to three hours and 10 GB, opens for its clips, its script and its subtitle files, because only its sound is read, a piece at a time, and each clip is written from its own short stretch of the file: the first ten minutes of its script and subtitle files are free, and all of them take one of the free videos, the trial or a plan; every clip in it is found and shown, free, a free video exports up to 3 of them, and the trial and Pro export them all, unlimited. We have no date for captions burned into a whole video past ten minutes.

What counts as a translation, and is there a limit?

One request is one batch of your caption lines sent to our AI. A video of normal length is one or two requests, and each line you correct afterwards is one more. With Starter, translations and clip finding are unlimited for your own use (exporting clips is part of Pro). Safety limits per account, for a day and for any 30 days, far above what one person making videos reaches, exist only to stop a misused sign-in, and we do not publish the numbers. The daily one resets at midnight UK time. If real work ever reaches it, the page says so, the captions stay in the spoken language (or a local rule picks the stretch), and an email to hello@burncaps.app gets it lifted.

How are translated captions timed?

The AI answers in short pieces of two to four spoken words, in the order they were spoken, and each piece is shown over the time of the words it translates. So the English follows the speaker, instead of being spread evenly across a sentence. Any line can be corrected by hand.

How much of our speech service does Starter include?

Five hours of sound in any 30 days, against three hours on Free. That is where a phone, an Indian language or any non-English language is written in seconds, by Microsoft’s speech recognition. Forty videos of five minutes are about three hours twenty. Only listening on our service uses it. When the five hours are used, Burncaps listens on your own device instead, without a limit and more slowly on a phone, and says so. A long recording that needs more than is left (a three-hour one needs three of the five hours) is never sent in part: before any sound leaves, Burncaps says so and offers to listen on your computer instead (in every language a model on it can write). If you need more, Pro has 20 hours in any 30 days.

How do the three devices work?

Starter is tied to the email you paid with and can be signed in on three devices at once, for example a phone and two computers. To add a new computer, choose Sign in on it, type that email, then type the six-digit code we send to it. There is no password. A fourth sign-in signs out the device used longest ago, which can sign back in the same way. Please do not share your sign-in with other people.

Will Starter ever cost more, or leave features out?

Starter is $9.98 a month or $49 once, and every improvement to what Starter includes comes with it at no charge. Paid once, there is nothing to renew, because it is not a subscription; paid monthly, you can cancel any time. Starter is for captioned videos; clips are part of Pro, a monthly subscription with its own price that exports unlimited clips from the whole of every recording and includes everything in Starter. Nothing that is in your Starter plan when you buy it will be moved out of it, and a Starter plan bought before 26 October 2026 keeps exporting clips from the whole recording, as it was sold. You can have your money back within 14 days, for any reason: a 14-day money-back guarantee.

What do you keep of my video, sound and words?

Your video never leaves your device. The sound goes only to our speech service (on a phone unless you switch it off, on a computer only if you choose it), in pieces of up to 30 seconds with nothing from the picture, to Microsoft’s speech service in Ireland; neither we nor, by Microsoft’s statement, Microsoft keep it. The transcript text goes to our AI only to find clips or B-roll moments, for a name check or for a translation, and is not stored. What we keep is counts, stored as salted one-way hashes, and for a paid plan your email, your purchase and up to three signed-in devices. Ticking “Keep everything on this device” stops every request that carries sound or words. The privacy policy has the whole list.

Before you pay

Which browsers and files does it work with?

A recent browser. Chrome or Edge on a computer is the fastest and surest, because they use the graphics chip to write the video; Firefox may save a WebM file instead of an MP4, and many phones export too, more slowly. Where a browser cannot write video, you can still transcribe and download SRT, VTT or ASS files. Input is MP4 or MOV. Try a free video first on the machine you will actually use.

What happens the moment I pay?

Stripe sends you back to Burncaps and Starter is on in that browser straight away. There is no key to keep and no password. On another device, choose Sign in, type the email you paid with, and type the six-digit code we send to it.

Can I get my money back?

Yes. Email hello@burncaps.app within 14 days of paying and we refund Starter in full, for any reason, with no questions asked (paid monthly, your first payment). A refund switches Starter off. You can also try it free first, on the machine you will use.

Is it really one payment?

Yes, if you choose $49 once: for you, on up to three of your devices at a time, including every improvement to what Starter includes. There is nothing to cancel, because Starter paid once is not a subscription. Starter at $9.98 a month is a subscription you can cancel any time. Starter is for captioned videos only; clips are part of Pro, a monthly plan. Every limit, in plain words.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. The AI model downloads into your browser once (about 190 MB with a graphics chip, 80 MB without, then cached) and everything after that runs on your device. On a computer, open your browser's network tab while captioning and you will see no request carrying your video. How to check this yourself.
